1월 11일, 6월 7~11일까지 개최될 예정인 북미 최대 게임쇼 ‘E3'가 참가 업체 일부를 발표해 관심을 집중시키고 있다.
공식 홈페이지를 통해 공개된 참가 업체는 총 90개의 기업으로 콘솔 시장을 주도하고 있는 3대 플랫폼 홀더인 마이크로소프트와 닌텐도, 소니 등을 비롯해 해외 유명 게임사들의 참가할 것으로 알려졌다.
지난해 열린 ‘E3 2010'에서는 각 플랫폼 홀더의 신형 동작 인식 컨트롤러를 비롯해 닌텐도의 차세대 휴대 콘솔 기기인 ‘닌텐도 3DS' 발표를 통해 문전성시를 이뤄 지난해 열린 게임쇼 중 가장 유저들의 관심을 집중시킨 게임쇼로 남기도 했다.
특히 지난해 넥슨 아메리카는 ‘마비노기 영웅전’, ‘던전앤파이터’, ‘드래곤네스트’ 등 자사의 대표 타이틀을 전시하기도 했으며, 블루홀스튜디오의 ‘테라’도 'E3'에 모습을 드러내 관람객의 눈을 사로잡았다.
한편, 현재 공개된 게임사 중에서 아직 국내 기업의 모습을 보이지 않고 있으나 차후 발표를 통해 공개될 가능성이 높아 귀추가 주목된다.
